A stress-free birthday checklist: headcount, which location to choose, how to book, what to order for your group, kids menu and how to coordinate cake and decorations.

Birthdays are celebrated around the table, and in Cusco few things bring family and friends together like a good grill to share. So that you can enjoy the day instead of spending it sorting out details, here is the checklist I use when someone asks me to help plan their birthday at Águeda.

1. Know how many you are

Start with an approximate guest count, adults and children separately. Everything else depends on it: the location, the table and how much to order. It does not need to be exact at first, just close.

2. Choose the location by group size and area

Location Area Capacity
Matará Historic Center 70 on the first floor · 100 using both floors
Collasuyo Magisterio, near Real Plaza Up to 100 on two floors
Ttio Urb. Ttio Up to 70

A tip to help you decide: Collasuyo is the only location with rotisserie chicken, great if there are children or guests who prefer chicken; Matará and Ttio serve the seafood grill, for those who prefer fish. More about each location in our guide to eating steak in Cusco.

3. Pick the time

We are open Monday to Saturday from 12:00 to 21:30, so you can celebrate with lunch or dinner. On Sunday we are open from 12:00 to 17:00: if the birthday falls on a Sunday, make it a lunch.

4. Book ahead

Weekends fill up fast, especially for groups. Make your online reservation: choose the location, date, time and number of guests, and under “Occasion” select Birthday. You will get a booking code and we will confirm your table on WhatsApp.

5. Decide what to order

For a birthday, a grill in the middle of the table works best. As a guide:

  • 4 people: Agueda Grill (S/.219), with Andean potatoes and crispy yuca.
  • 6 people: Mixed Grill (S/.279).
  • 8 people: Mixed Grill plus Grill for Two (S/.368).
  • 10 people: Mixed Grill plus Agueda Grill (S/.498).
  • 12 people: two Mixed Grills (S/.558).

The details of each combination, with meat per person, are in which grill to order for your group. And a tip for the birthday person: try the Alpaca Loin (S/.47). For me, alpaca is the best meat you can eat in Cusco.

6. Ten or more? Choose a per-person menu

For large groups, a fixed price per person makes the bill easy. From 10 people we offer menus from S/.47 per person including a pisco sour, all-you-can-eat salad bar, grilled main course, a glass of wine and a drink, and dessert is from S/.7 extra. See all the options on our group menus page and request a proposal with the form.

7. Think about the kids

The Kids Menu (S/.17 to S/.18) offers salchipapa, chicken milanesa or nuggets with fries and a scoop of ice cream. Note that the Kids Menu does not include the salad bar. If you celebrate at Collasuyo, a rotisserie chicken to share is always a hit with the little ones.

8. Cake, decoration and music

If you want to bring a cake, decorations or prepare a surprise, mention it when you book so we can coordinate it with the location. Special decoration, live music or a DJ have an additional cost.

9. Celebrating at home?

Build your order on the online menu, add the grills to your cart, choose the location and send it via WhatsApp for delivery or pick-up. And when dining in, remember that main courses include our complimentary salad bar. Happy birthday from Águeda!
